August Meeting

We would like to invite you to attend the August meeting of the Blue Ridge Amateur Radio Society.

Meeting starts at 1900 hours.

Our program will be given by Alex Norwood as a follow up of last meetings program on DMR.

We will also be discussing next years Hamfest along with Field day.

Field Day 2019 information

Field day weekend activities.

June 22 AT 2pm until June 23 at 5pm Riverbend Park 175 Riverbend Rd, Greenville, SC 29617

Field day equipment will be loaded for transport Friday evening, June 21 at the club storage building.

Setup will begin Saturday, June 22 at 10 AM.

Anyone wanting to participate, please contact Nathan Allison (KJ4RQZ) at 864-884-1373.

Setup will be 3 stations consisting of 2 club owned stations powered by generators for HF, voice, GOTA (get on the air) and CW operations plus 1 privately owned Digital station.

Please feel free to bring any equipment that you may want to experiment with, or otherwise need assistance with.

Commercial power is available in the form of 20 amp/120V, 30 amp/120V RV and 50 amp 120/240V for a fee of $20.00 per connection.

Bathrooms are available on site.

Tent camping as well as RV’s are welcome.

A covered dish dinner will be served at 6 PM with BRARS providing grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, buns and condiments.

Anyone attending dinner is asked to bring a drink of their choice (non-alcoholic) and a covered dish.

Please arrive one hour (5 PM) before dinner time to allow for the correct amount of grilled items to be prepared.

Hamfest venders have been contacted and questioned regarding the 2019 hamfest

All feedback as well as interest in attending next years event was positive

Each vendor was asked their opinion regarding the moving of our event to the fall of the year

Feedback was positive there as well

Please make plans to attend and participate in helping move our club forward

60th Annual Blue Ridge Amateur Radio Society Hamfest

The 2019 Hamfest is Saturday May 4, 2019, 8.00 AM to 3.00 PM at the Piedmont Interstate Fairground in Spartanburg (address: 575 Fairgrounds Road, Spartanburg, SC 29305)

  • Grand Prize: Yaesu FT-891 HF/50 MHz transceiver [drawing will occur at 2pm]
  • Second Prize: Kenwood TM-V71A 144/440 MHz Dual Band Transceiver [drawing at 1pm]
  • Third Prize: Yaesu FT-65 144/440 MHz Dual Band Transceiver [drawing at noon]

Please note: You do NOT have to be present to win the Grand, Second, and Third prizes.

Camping & Vendor access is available Friday afternoon after 4.00 PM

  • Camping with power (120V 20A): $25 per night

BRARS Meeting March 4, 2019

We would to invite all that wish to attend to the BRARS meeting tomorrow night March 4, at the Red Cross, 940 Grove Rd Greenville SC  at 7 pm. The program will be the second in the Series on Land Opps and will cover UHF / VHF radios and their operation. Please bring working radios, antennas and power supplies for use during the program.
